Hi there, I’m Gabrielle Massey, an emerging painter and illustrator based in Florida. My artistic journey has been about exploring the intricate layers of life and giving them a visual form, but through a simplistic lens. My creations reflect my view of the multifaceted nature of existence using traditional and digital art, as well other mediums including poetry, photography, and music. As a self-taught artist, I've embraced my autonomy by allowing passion to lead and creating without limitations.

 

Being a native of Detroit, I couldn’t help but inherit a deep desire to establish a distinctive connection to the world around me. The city has truly shaped my artistic passion, as it has always been abounding in creativity, culture, history and innovation. I strive to depict imaginative and bold images that can provoke thought and resonance within my audience. Because of my love for freedom and imagination, abstract and surrealist themes have become the beating heart of my work.

 

Since 2013, I have been involved in supporting local art programs, artist grants, and workshops through donations. Additionally, I have taken the opportunity to raise awareness for important causes including ALS and Lupus by donating my artwork. In 2017, I had the honor of having my work showcased at the Tampa Museum of Art through the Arts Council of Hillsborough County. My art has also found its way into private collections across the country, thanks to commissioned works that I have had the pleasure of bringing to fruition.

 

Until 2022, I was fully immersed in a career of public service at a non-profit organization. However, I have finally answered an undeniable calling to carve out my own space in the art world as a dedicated freelance artist. I am truly grateful to be able to pour every ounce of my being into my passion and I hope to touch the lives of all who experience my work.
